Introduction
1.1
Purpose
This document outlines proven practices for importing a LDAP data source
within Composite Studio.
1.2
Applicability
The techniques and product behaviours outlined in this document apply to
Composite Software 3.7.1 using a IBM Cognos Series 7 namespace contained
within an Iplanet Directory Server.
1.3
Exclusions and Exceptions

Changing the Default Data Type
By default any character fields are imported with a size of 32768. Due to the
size, if this field is imported into Framework Manager it will be treated as
BLOB. In most cases this is not an accurate representation of the actual
data. The following steps outline how to change the default character
container size from 32768 to something more manageable.
Within the Composite Studio, Select the Administration\Configuration from
the available menu bar.
Within the Configuration dialog box. Expand the tree structure Data
Sources\LDAP Sources and select the Default Character Column Size

Change the default value to a more manageable value such as 255 or 512.
Ensure that the OK on the bottom of right is pressed to commit the changes.

Creating an LDAP Data Source

In the import screen, select the items that you wish to import. Against a
Series 7 namespace the objects of interest are: camGlobalUserReference,
camSignon, camUserClass and authGlobalUser.
Once these have been selected, click on the Finish button on the bottom of
the screen. This will now import the object into the studio.
