FAQ - Summer Programming
1. Q: I have heard that the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC) will be closed this summer. How long will it be closed and why?
A: In the lead up to and to help facilitate the presentation of the games, TPASC will be closed to theUTSC community and the public, from May 15 to early September.
2. Q: What types of Athletic and Recreational programs and activities are being offered this summer?
A: We have a wide range of programming available this summer, including a newly
expanded outdoor recreation program.
3. Q: What spaces on campus will be available for athletic and recreational
programming this summer?
A: The following areas will be accessible for programming over the summer months:
• The lower campus Valley Fields
• Tennis Courts in the Valley
• R-260 Studio Space
• TPASC Summer Fitness Dome – for cardio and weight training
A few of the unique and exciting opportunities available, include:
• Personal fitness and sports equipment available for sign-out in the Valley
• Cardio and Weight Training at the TPASC Summer Fitness Dome
• Group Fitness & Instructional Classes – Zumba, Outdoor Circuits, Yoga, Self Defense, Dance
• Outdoor Cycling - weekly organized instructor led bike rides in partnership with Bike Share
• Sneaker Squad - weekly walks/runs, social events, training for competitive
challenges
• Drop-in multi-sports on Valley fields – Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, Badminton
• Learn to Play Sports (beginner level) – Soccer, Tennis, Ultimate Frisbee,
Baseball
• Interhouse Leagues – Co-ed Outdoor Soccer
• Tennis
o Lessons (intermediate and beginner)
o Weekly student only socials
o Tournaments
o Drop-in and play
• Outdoor Recreation opportunities
o Learn to Dragon Boat
o Outdoor Rock Climbing
o Treetop trekking

4. Q: What is the TPASC Summer Fitness Dome?
A: The TPASC Summer Fitness Dome is a satellite fitness centre and group fitness
studio for TPASC members and UTSC students, faculty and staff members. The
12,000 sq. ft. air conditioned venue will offer all of the fitness centre amenities
currently offered at TPASC. For more details about the TPASC Summer Fitness
Dome including location, programming, equipment, hours of operation and access, please visit the TPASC website at www.tpasc.ca.
5. Q: I am a UTSC student registered in the summer term, how do I access
programming?
A: As part of your incidental fees, the majority of program participation including access to the TPASC Summer Fitness Dome, with the exception of a few instructional programs, and day and overnight activities and trips, are fully included at no additional cost.

6. Q: As a UTSC non-registered student, how can I access athletic and recreational programs and activities this summer?
A: Non-registered students have two options available to them:
• Option 1: Purchase a comprehensive membership from the Department of Athletics and Recreation, which will provide you access to:
o Drop in Programs
o Sports in the Valley
o Learn to Play
o Group Fitness
o Outdoor activities and programs
o And access to the TPASC Summer Fitness Dome for Cardio and Weight
Training
• Option 2*: Purchase a TPASC Summer Membership directly through TPASC at the discounted rate of $20.50 per month, which will provide you access to the TPASC Summer Fitness Dome only.
* With this option you may still choose to participate in programming offered through the Department of Athletics and Recreation on a pay as you go basis, purchased through the Department of Athletics and Recreation.

7. Q: As a UTSC Faculty/Staff member, how can I access athletic and recreational pro grams and activities this summer?
A: UTSC Faculty and Staff members will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of summer programming offered through the Department of Athletics and Recreation, on a ‘pay as you go’ basis.

Faculty and Staff are also able to access cardio and weight training facilities at the TPASC Summer Fitness Dome, by purchasing a TPASC summer membership at the discounted rate of $20.50 per month, directly through TPASC.

Recreation.
8. Q: Where will the offices of Athletics and Recreation be located over the summer term? How can I reach a member of the Athletics and Recreation Department
during the summer?
A: Although TPASC will be closed to the UTSC community and the public, the Department of Athletics and Recreation will continue to operate out of the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre during the summer term and will be accessible via email
([email protected]) or telephone.
9. Q: Where can I get more information about the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games Events happening on campus?
A: For official information about the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, schedules, tickets and more, visit: http://www.toronto2015.org/.
We will also be available in the following locations, on main campus and in the lower campus Valley area:
• R-258 – For registration/information
• Kiosk Office in the valley for registration/sign-out of equipment
• Outreach staff on campus to provide information and answer questions
