Instructor Information Final Exams Summer 2013
From: Heinz-Bernhard Kraatz
Date: Monday July 15, 2013
I would like to bring to your attention information and reminders regarding the upcoming
Summer 2013 final exam period which begins on Thursday August 8, 2013.
In the past, the Office of the Dean and Vice-Principal (Academic) has provided us with a
Guidelines and Best Practices document on the administration of examinations. As per this
document, I am reminding all faculty and course instructors that final examinations should
be sent to our Program Assistant five (5) business days before the date of your final exam.
This lead time will ensure printing services will have time to print your examinations and our
staff has ample time to prepare the exams and supplies for you.
In an effort to protect the academic integrity of your examination, we have established a
separate email address [email protected] to which you can send your exam
electronically should you so wish. Please keep in mind that the University offers the Secure
File transfer service to which you can forward your exam in a secure manner. Please go to
http://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/iits/file-transfer-system for further details and instructions.
All instructors should collect their printed examinations from Joanne and she will be
responsible for providing the necessary copies to AccessAbility Services as required. At that
time, she will also provide a package of exam related information for each course. The
package will include Candidate forms, Exam Incident reports, and Possession of
Unauthorized Electronic Device forms. If you require any additional supplies, please contact
Joanne directly as soon as possible.
The Office of the Dean also reminds all instructors to provide a cover sheet for their exam
with the following information:
Course and Lecture section
Name of the Instructor
Date and start time of the exam
Location of the exam
Number of pages of the exam
Aids allowed
Acknowledgement of Student Code of Conduct**

**The Office of the Dean has suggested the following statement should be included on all exam
information/cover sheets:
The University of Toronto’s Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters applies to all University of Toronto
Scarborough students. The Code prohibits all forms of academic dishonesty including, but not limited to,
cheating, plagiarism, and the use of unauthorized aids. Students violating the Code may be subject to
penalties up to and including suspension or expulsion from the University.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Joanne at 416 287-7195 or at
[email protected]
