Submit with this form a typed essay (a minimum of 1 page long) on your interest in Urban Planning
as a course of study and a professional career. Your academic record will be checked by the
Department.
General Information
A. Minimum of 30 hours of credit is required for transfers within UIUC.
B. Selective enrollment policy. A competitive GPA without other positive considerations such as experience
in planning-related work, performance in urban planning courses (if taken), and the essay.
C. Completed introductory coursework in Rhetoric (RHET 105), Microeconomics (Econ 102), Foundational
General Education (AAS 100 or AFRO 100 or AIS 101 or GEOG 101 or GEOG 104 or LLS 100 or Soc 100),
and Statistics (UP 116 or Stat 100) is required, but if a GPA is 3.5+ the student may be recommended for
transfer without some courses. Students who transfer as sophomores may also be given flexibility.
D. The Department takes requests for transfer four times each year: the first ten days of the fall and spring
semesters and during pre-registration for the following semester. The Department reserves the recommendation decision until the GPA for the current semester is available.
E. Final decisions on transfer are the determination of the FAA College, Office of Undergraduate Academic
Affairs,
