WHEELER 13 (calendar day, MARCH 20), 1935 introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Com'm ittee on Indian Affairs A BILL Authorizing the erection of a memorial statue of Chief Plenty Coos. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of RepresentaAn~erica in Congress assembled, 2 tives of the· United States of 3 That the Secretary of the Interior is authorized and directed 4 to select a suitable site at Crow Agency on the Crow Indian [) Reservation in the State of Montana and to cause to be 6 erected thereon a life-sized bronze equestrian statue of Chief 7 Plenty Coos, as a memorial to his outstanding services to 8 both Indians and white settlers. 9 SEc. 2. The site and design of such statue shall be 10 subject to the approval of the National Con1mission of Fine Il Arts and the Tribal Council of the Crow Indians. 12 SEc. 3. There is hereby appropriated, out of any 13 money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum 14 of $75,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to 15 carry out the provisions of this Act.
