Title IX is the landmark 1972 federal civil
rights law that prohibits sex discrimination
in education.
IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT
FEMALES
Male and gender nonconforming students
are also protected under Title IX.

SEXUAL VIOLENCE IS NOT
TOLERATED
Sexual violence is not tolerated at
Northeastern. Incidents of sexual violence
should be reported to Northeastern Public
Safety Division (NUPD) or Office of
Institutional Diversity and Inclusion
(OIDI).

NORTHEASTERN HAS
SYSTEMS IN PLACE
The policy and procedure for handling
cases of sexual violence are outlined in the
Code of Student Conduct and the Title IX
Policy.
Students who experience sexual violence
have a right to referrals to counseling on
and off campus, relocation to a different
residence hall, and a change in academic
schedule.

Northeastern is proactive in making the
campus safe and free of sex discrimination
and sexual violence.

A PLAN FOR SAFETY

Northeastern can issue a no-contact order
throughout the conduct process and
afterwards as appropriate.
All OSCCR cases are treated confidentially
and an informational meeting with
OSCCR staff is available to discuss any
complaint.
RETALIATION IS PROHIBITED
Any intentional or attempted act against a
person who in good faith makes a report,
serves as a witness or participated in an
investigation or hearing is a violation of
the Code of Student Conduct.
