The General Education Assessment Committee has selected two learning outcomes for the College to
target for improvement. They are,
Communications: Develop effective reading, writing, speaking, listening, and nonverbal
communication skills for a variety of audiences.
Quantitative Reasoning: Use college-level mathematical concepts and methods to understand,
analyze, and explain issues in quantitative terms.
ITEM 1.
Please indicate what has been done this semester, or this past fall, in your cluster (or
individual classes) to support these two general education learning outcomes? Be
specific.
Discussion: Communications –
Theatre: Acting classes study and apply the Meisner Technique to enhance abilities in Listening
and Non-Verbal communication skills.
Film: Production classes assigned Student Directors to write a Script, create Storyboards to
present to faculty and Students visually and verbally to explain their intention for
communicating the ideas of the story to an audience.
Quantitative Reasoning: N/A

What will be done in your cluster, or individual classes, next fall semester that is new
to support these two learning outcomes? Be specific.
Discussion:
Theatre: Rehearsal & Performance class students will be working on reading, speaking,
listening, and nonverbal communication skills to enhance their theatrical performance
experience.
Film: Students will practice the aforementioned skills in Screenwriting and Directing
classes.

Film Program Curriculum Revisions
Discussion:
Revising Motion Picture Production A.S. (2282) to include aspects of Other two A.S.
degrees in a revised structure and delete other A.S. leaving one centralized. This revision
will streamline and enhance current offerings for the students and remove underutilized
programs and courses.
